Gina McCabe

Gina McCabe is a northern Virginia-based business development executive. She graduated from George Mason University with a degree in English Writing and from UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce with a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology. With deep experience in a myriad of industries, McCabe has spent her professional years climbing the career ladder and re-inventing herself in what she calls a never-ending effort to achieve success and find personal fulfillment. After 30 years of silence surrounding the trauma of being sexually abused as a child, McCabe came forward with her story in print. Her efforts are now focused on raising awareness about child sexual abuse, helping to prevent it, and encouraging other survivors.

McCabe is currently on tour, speaking about her life, her book and her healing. "I want to help others who are struggling with deeply buried secrets," she says. "I want them to know that it's okay to talk about taboo topics like sexual abuse and to understand where and how to get help... when they're ready. I'm also learning more about the people who are actively involved in prevention and treatment -- everyone from counselors and therapists to police officers, prosecutors and members of multidisciplinary teams who dedicate their time to helping victims, survivors and others impacted by abuse. They are making a difference, and I'm figuring out how to do the same."

McCabe's publishing company, Winding Road Books, was launched with the vision of supporting writing that drives positive social change.

What If I Tell, McCabe's memoir, is the flagship work of the Winding Road Books project.
